Women in Sports Industry
The prominence of women in the sports industry is greater than it has ever been. However, there is still more progress to be made in terms of equality in the field. A fascinating conference took place in Colorado Springs on the Campus of Colorado State University that included a panel discussion with several female executives from the Denver Broncos and the Senior Associate Director of Athletics at CSU.
Meanwhile, the UMass journalism department held a one-day symposium on women in sports media last week. One featured speaker was Melissa Ludtke, known (in part) for her 1978 lawsuit that gave women equal access to interview players in locker rooms. Panels also included discussions on navigating a male-dominated profession, a discussion on interviewing for jobs and more.
